Arrow Season 5 Finale: 8 Big Questions We Need Answers To
1. Can Oliver Avoid Killing Chase?
It's what Chase has wanted Oliver to do since the beginning; the one action that Chase believes will prove he's been right all along about Oliver's cold-blooded ways. Oliver has continually refused to kill Chase, even when it would save lives, because he doesn't believe it's the right kind of justice for Chase. However, with the way the two's final confrontation is shaping up, it seems highly unlikely that both men will come out of the fight alive.
Oliver killed both Ra's al Ghul and Damien Dahrk when all was said and done, but he was able to spare Slade, so he has avoided the temptation to take the easy way out before. The decision will likely be determined based on how the showrunners wish to portray Oliver overall: the vigilante with strong moral fortitude or the hero that gets his hands dirty for the safety of others.
In the end, maybe Oliver will give in and kill Chase, even if Oliver ends up scarring William in the process. There's also the possibility that someone else does the job for Oliver. Malcolm or Slade would be more than capable of doing it, so Oliver's not exactly lacking in willing killers. It seems that fans will have to wait and see if Oliver is the bloodthirsty killer Chase makes him out to be, or if he can rise above Chase's opinion of him and act as the true hero his father believed he could be.
