Arrow Season 6: 7 Reasons Why It's Better Than You Think

1. Katie Cassidy Was Back (And Better Than Ever)

Without a doubt, the best thing about Arrow's sixth season was the full-time return of Katie Cassidy. The actress had been a series regular on the show for its first four seasons, portraying Dinah Laurel Lance a.k.a. the Black Canary, until the character was senselessly killed off. After a number of guest appearances in Season 5, she was once again promoted to a series regular position, but this time, she was portraying Laurel's evil Earth-2 doppelganger Black Siren.

The villainous role allowed Cassidy to show off a completely different side to her talents. Unlike her previous wholesome character, this Laurel was full of sassy insults, sarcastic comebacks and, on the surface, was as cold-hearted as they come. However, the latter would prove to be partially untrue as Siren soon began bonding with Quentin Lance, the father of the original Laurel, and we soon began to discover that, as unlikely as it seemed, there was some good in her.

From her take-no-prisoners approach to her unexpected relationship with her surrogate father, Black Siren's full-time debut was one of the biggest silver linings of Season 6, and it just highlighted how the show thrives when Cassidy is part of the cast. Furthermore, her storyline set the stage for an incredibly engaging redemption arc that is currently one of the standout aspects of Season 7.
