Batwoman Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part 2'
3. Always Hold On To Smallville
The return to Smallville was one of Crisis On Infinite Earths' biggest selling points because it meant that we got to catch up with some of the characters from the show that paved the way for the Arrowverse. Yes, Batwoman's installment featured the returns of Tom Welling's Clark Kent and Erica Durance's Lois Lane in a scene that was both short and sweet.
The crossover did a fantastic job of recreating the peaceful vibe that the Kent Farm always exhibited - something they accomplished by revisiting the set and overlaying the scenes with some of the show's soothing score - and it was nothing short of wonderful to see Welling and Durance share a scene together one more time.
Some may not love the idea that Clark gave up his powers (especially when you consider that he spent a decade evolving into Superman) or the idea that we may never see Welling don the suit, but this felt like a beautiful and authentic farewell to a wonderful series - one that proved that, even as a human, Clark Kent is superior to Lex Luthor. And, as Clark and Lois walked off, hand-in-hand, back to their life as parents, we couldn't help but smile because they made a life for themselves in the one place that their show could never leave behind: Smallville.
Clark followed his father's words of wisdom: He always held onto Smallville. And believe this writer when he says, so will we.
