Batwoman Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part 2'

2. Kevin Conroy Exceeds Expectations

With over two decades spent voicing the character in various forms of animated TV shows, films and video games, Kevin Conroy is, without question, the definitive voice of Batman. But in Crisis On Infinite Earths, he became Batman - physically - for the very first time.

It was a very wise choice to allow us to hear him before we saw him in person simply because that voice was unmistakable. Though slightly gruffer in order to add to the character, Conroy successfully switched between his calmer Bruce-tone and affirming Bat-tone - both of which he made famous on Batman: The Animated Series.

That being said, his greatest achievement was his physical performance. He brought the necessary grit to the role, conveying this Bruce Wayne with all the hardened resentment that the Kingdom Come version requires. He was formidable and intimidating in his mannerisms (while even managing to remain a little suave), ensuring that the character's Arrowverse debut exceeded expectations.

We've waited years to see Conroy portray Bruce in live-action and, as a longtime fan of both his and the character, this writer can safely say that his performance was worth the wait. Phenomenal.
