Batwoman Season 1 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Rabbit Hole'

Downs...

2. The Narration

Batwoman Ruby Rose Kate Kane
The CW

Look, there isn't anything particularly wrong with the narration, but it's clearly being employed as nothing more than a tool for exposition, and that makes some of the lines stick out like a sore thumb.

All of the Arrowverse shows used narration at the beginning, and while some worked better than others (The Flash, Supergirl), all of them eventually dropped it. Now, considering Kate Kane is more like the broody Oliver Queen, hearing her tell the viewers everything in such an open manner (even though we knows she's writing it in her diary to Bruce) just doesn't sound like something she'd do.

The diary is an excellent device to conceal its purpose, but it will continue to wear thin with each passing episode.
