Batwoman Season 1 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Rabbit Hole'

4. Prioritising The Mission

Batwoman 2
The CW

One thing that this episode was very efficient in letting us know was that Kate Kane had no intention of being a hero. She had donned her cousin's costume for one reason - and that was to save Sophie from Alice. And now this whole Alice/Beth dilemma is merely an extension of that. Thus, the Bat was born because the mission required it to be.

Much like we saw with Oliver Queen in Arrow's premiere season, the city around Kate is starting to wonder if she is the hero they need and, although she hasn't exactly given them reason to doubt her, she isn't being 'Batman' for anything other than personal reasons. And that makes her all the more interesting.

But as Luke Fox continues to remind her, though her intentions may be selfish, she is inspiring people, and we should expect to see that continue to weigh on her until she eventually drops the secret Batman moniker and steps into the light as Batwoman.
