Batwoman Season 1 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Rabbit Hole'

3. The Unexpected Twist

Batwoman 2
The CW

Alice is the Big Bad of the season, so surely she is lying about being Beth, right? Bones were eventually discovered in the search for Beth that matched her DNA, so she must be lying, right? Alice is unhinged, so that ultimately makes her the Big Bad, right?

Alice may indeed be unhinged, but it's looking like she's more of a victim of circumstance than anything else, as for some reason, Jacob's wife, Catherine Hamilton-Kane, is very eager to bury any possibilities that Alice could be Beth - going so far as to have her signature knife destroyed. And, in case you weren't convinced of her guilt, she was also the one who told Jacob that Beth's bones had been found in the first place.

The question is: Why is she so committed to pretending that Alice and Beth are not one in the same and, more importantly, why did she misinform Jacob about Beth all those years ago?

Twists keep things fresh and exciting and, after revealing so many of the typical plot details so quickly, this was a nice way of turning things on their head.
