Howard Hamlin has always served just one thing, and that is what he thinks is best for HHM. Unfortunately for him, he has proven to be easily manipulated and used as a pawn in the war once waged between Chuck and Jimmy.

So, with Chuck now gone and Jimmy's focus away from HHM, Howard has gone through insomnia and the grief of losing his mentor and friend. However, he still is in charge of the Sandpiper lawsuit, which is something that Jimmy has a huge vested interest in. So, whatever happens to Howard, you can get your savings at the ready to bet on it being something awful.

Jimmy and Kim have begun the process of planning a scheme that will force HHM to settle the case sooner rather than later. Kim has now turned, perhaps permanently, to the 'dark' side and she revels in the excitement it affords her, so Howard can't even rely on her to hold back when it comes to pushing him over a cliff in order to get what they want.

Howard wasn't ever the bad guy, which was proved by the time Chuck had died. That being said, Jimmy blames him for Chuck's death, therefore will show no mercy when it comes to forcing his hand.

Whatever happens to Howard, it will be something he probably doesn't deserve.
