BoJack Horseman Season 4: 12 Biggest WTF Moments
4. Beatrice's Doll Has Sentimental Value
Beatrice has dementia, so she doesn't recognize her son and mistakes him for Henrietta, her maid. One day when he comes back home, he learns that the woman was looking for her baby, so her nurse and Hollyhock gave her a doll. A doll which she seems to cherish a bit too much. When BoJack throws it out off the balcony just to see his mother suffer, he achieves what he wanted and so much more.
Her reaction might seem too emotional, but BoJack (and the viewer at that time) doesn't know that the doll looked exactly like her childhood toy, which Beatrice's father threw into the fireplace.
The revelation explains the woman's incredible attachment to it. The doll symbolizes her innocence and sensitivity, which were gradually eliminated by her father. Seeing the doll burn in the fire is probably the strongest moment of a very touching episode.
