BoJack Horseman Season 6: 7 Things It Must Do

1. Keep BoJack In Rehab

When Season 5 started with Diane and Mr Peanutbutter having divorced in between the seasons, it was a decision most fans understood. The divorce was clearly coming, and by getting it out the way off screen it gave room for Mr PB and Diane to explore solo plots, rather than tying up three or four episodes in a needless narrative.

Pulling a similar move with BoJack’s stint in rehab would be uncharacteristically cheap. Many other shows (House, Brooklyn 99, Pretty Little Liars) have all moved their stars to various unpleasant settings like rehab or prison, but BoJack is the type of show to go for the jugular and delve much deeper than most into the experience.

BoJack’s decision to finally get help is a huge turning point for the character. It recalls the ending of Season 3 when BoJack drives and ends up in the field of running horses, and that moment gave us the great episode The Old Sugarman Place. BoJack’s stint in rehab has been well earned; he’s been through the wringer recently. Hopefully Season 6 provides the payoff it clearly deserves.
