Breaking Bad: 10 Worst Things Gus Fring Has Ever Done

6. Taking Out The Cartel

Gus Fring's most triumphant moment in Breaking Bad is also one of his darkest.

Episode ten in season four sees Gus, Mike and Jesse travel south of the border to meet with Don Eladio and the cartel, supposedly to help teach them how to cook Heisenberg's unique blue meth. In a supposedly 'making peace' move, Gus offers the cartel a bottle of rare tequila and drinks a shot to prove that it is what he says it is.

However, when Gus leaves to use the bathroom, delicately removes his jacket and sits himself in front of the toilet, things begin to spiral in a very different, far darker way. Each and every member of the cartel begins to drop down dead from the poisoned tequila, with the closing over-the-head shot of Gus walking back out to the carnage unfolding by the pool being one of the most iconic in the season.

Few people in the world could wipe out their entire competition in such a sweeping, callous way, but that is why Gus is the top dog in Breaking Bad. His demeanour keeps his opponents underestimating him, but his cold calculating persona when alone is a reminder to the audience about just how brutal the Chilean is.
