Breaking Bad: Every Season Finale Ranked Worst To Best
1. Season Four: Face Off
What else could it have been? Breaking Bad has had many great episodes, but few can possibly claim to be as good as season four's epic finale, Face Off, in which Walt goes head-to-head with Gus one last time in hopes of taking over his role as New Mexico's scariest drug lord.
With a level of tension that somehow manages to grow even more unbearable with every passing scene, Face Off is ultimately a battle between two gargantuan egos. Walt refuses to lose, and uses his slippery intelligence to keep Gus guessing. Gus, meanwhile, constantly thinks he has the upper hand, and can't be beaten.
In the end, it's Gus who loses, his downfall brought on by his desire to see old Hector Salamanca suffer. His death leads to the most iconic moment of the show, as he walks away from Walt's carefully plotted bomb attack seemingly unscathed, before the camera reveals half his face is missing.
From the build-up to the battle's end to the gory face reveal, to the ambiguous cliffhanger that suggests Walt poisoned a child to keep Jesse from turning on him, Face Off is far and away Breaking Bad's best finale, despite the competition.
