Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Every Season Finale Ranked Worst To Best
4. Lights Out (Season Seven)
After already producing six fantastic season finales, it's fair to say that the Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew knew what they were doing with this one. However, their experience in producing epic final episodes might have also helped this one in another way, as it did something entirely different to what had come before.
In this episode, Brooklyn is hit with a huge blackout, leading the Nine-Nine to panic mode. As if that wasn't bad enough, the squad gets thrown into disarray after Amy goes into labour. Each character has a unique place in the episode, with Amy/Rosa in the precinct, Holt/Terry stuck in an elevator and Jake/Charles out on the streets.
What makes this episode unique is that the stakes and plot don't revolve around the job. Typically, the Nine-Nine find themselves embroiled in some criminal conspiracy or a death threat. In contrast, the narrative here revolved around being stuck in the precinct and a sudden birthing situation.
This was an excellent way to keep the finale intense whilst still doing something different, which made the seventh season's finale unique. Plus, the wholesome ending (where we met McClane "Mac" Peralta) for the first time was beautiful.
