Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Characters You Totally Forgot Existed
8. Owen Thurman
Owen was Buffy's original love interest and appeared in the fifth episode of the first season. He was a kind, caring and sensitive soul who loved the poetry of Emily Dickinson, which he kept with him at all times. Bless.
In the episode, Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, Buffy managed to have a date with Owen despite her hectic life. When Giles investigated a funeral home and got into danger, Xander and Willow interrupted the date to drag Buffy to the rescue. Before leaving, Buffy tried to dump Owen but he insisted on tagging along.
While at the funeral home, Owen got caught up in a fight with the vampires and was knocked unconscious. The next day, however, he was thrilled by the drama of the night before. Buffy is put in a terrible position and has to choose between Owen and her Slayer duties. She knows that if she chooses Owen, he will be in too much danger and could die next time. It's for that reason that Buffy dumped him.
Owen is another character we'd have loved to have seen more. He was a genuinely lovely person and not bad on the eye either. Maybe somewhere in the Buffy multiverse, he's still around and one of the Scoobies.
