2. Nicholas Brendan (Xander Harris)
Nicholas Brendon was an unknown when he took the role of Xander Harris. Xander proved more than once to be a loyal friend and is regarded by many fans to be the glue that held the gang together throughout their various misadventures.
Brendon portrayed Xander for all seven seasons of the show, and when it came to an end he seemed poised to capitalise on the success of the series. He had a main role in the short-lived drama series Kitchen Confidential (2005-2006), starring opposite Bradley Cooper, and he had major recurring roles in shows such as Criminal Minds, Private Practise, and Faking It.
On film, he has credits in a number of cheap horror flicks, from Unholy (2007), Blood on the Highway (2008), and My Neighbour's Secret (2009). His best movie role came in 2013's criminally underrated and brilliantly unique sci-fi horror Coherence.
Outside of his acting, Brendon has had something of a hard knock life. He's been arrested over the years for various drug and alcohol related offences, and had a brief stint on Dr Phil, where he was forced to confront his addictions and previous actions. Initially walking off the set on his first appearance, he returned to the show to finish his therapy.
He seems to be doing much better in his personal life now, and is often seen attending various conventions and chatting with fans about the show. A very talented actor, here's to hoping he finds more roles in the future.
