14. Kristine Sutherland (Joyce Summers)
Though she was never a main character, Joyce Summers' presence throughout the first five seasons makes her the show's most recurring character, appearing in over fifty episodes.
Sutherland was told as early as season three that Joyce would be killed off, which she accepted because she wanted to travel (hence her limited role in season Four), but Whedon decided to keep her around in season five so he could kill her off properly, delivery the emotionally devastating episode The Body.
After her role in the show she had some small parts in indie films such as The Perfect Wedding and Russian Doll, and had guest roles in shows such as Providence, New Amsterdam and The Following.
She also took a photography course at her local college and has since set up a photography studio in Santa Monica.
