Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
1. Season Three
Season Three edges out the competition for two big reasons: consistency, and the addition of Faith Lehane. This is Buffy at its most well organised and tightly written. Everyone gets a moment to shine, be in Xander in the wonderfully fun meta episode "The Zeppo", Willow in the alternate timeline-based "Dopplegangland", or Oz in "Beauty and the Beasts."
The alternate reality episode "The Wish" is one of Buffy's most daring episodes, and "Earshot" and "Lover's Walk" make for two more of the show's more underrated. Mayor Richard Wilkins is also a devillishly fun Big Bad whose jovial and polite manner perfectly contrasts Angelus in the last season.
But it is Eliza Dushku's rogue Slayer, Faith Lehane, who steals the show from everyone, providing a darkness to the show and shifting the idea of good versus evil to the idea of good people gone bad. Watching the two Slayers go head to head is without question the show's most exciting fight, and the emotional pay-off still hits home all these years later.
Tie it all up with a bow made from wonderful supporting characters like Oz, Cordelia, and guests Wesley Wyndam-Prcye and Spike, and what you've got is a great show at the very height of its powers.
