Casting Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Reboot

2. Colonel Kira - Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt Sicario
Lionsgate

Emily Blunt is one of the best actors working in Hollywood today. She has shown a huge range in the roles that she has chosen, proving that she can carry both an emotional lead with an action hero strength as well.

Her turn in Sicario is almost proof enough that the role of a hard-boiled fighter would be second nature to her. Yet Kira is more than just a freedom fighter learning to adapt to the new normal of the Federation alliance. She is also a Bajoran who wants what is best for her people.

It is crucial that Kira be a sympathetic character to the audience. Where some shows fall is that they pigeonhole their characters into a small box, effectively having them be one thing rather than all of the things.

Give this woman a decent script and watch gold unfurl on-screen.
