5. For A Few Paintballs More
The second paintball episode on the list, and the direct sequel to A Fistful Of Paintballs. Despite both titles sharing a spaghetti western theme, this time around they ditch the Wild West pastiche for Star Wars instead. Especially fitting for Troy, as actor Donald Glover went on to play Lando Calrissian in Solo.
Abed steps up and becomes Han Solo, leading to a curious reaction from Annie. While Fistful played into their character tropes transplanted onto a Western setting, A Few Paintballs instead pushes them out of their comfort zone while keeping them still noticeably The Greendale Seven.
Also, while the first episode of this two parter is a brilliant set up, it’s the second half which holds the great finale. Fistful has a bit of a slow-burn flow, but A Few Paintballs is crammed to the rafters with set pieces.
As well as Magnitude’s valiant (paint) grenade jumping suicide, there’s the paint in the sprinklers - complete with Annie & Abed’s kiss - Britta and Jeff’s final assault and Pierce’s double (was it triple by the end? Quadruple?) bluffing which made him the ultimate victor.
A fantastic action episode all around.
