5. Pop-Culture Paradise
In a post-modern world, cultural references can be found in every medium and it's always a sign of a cultured fellow if he's able to spot them. Well, you may as well give up on
Community cause it's damn-well packed with 'em. Yes, we have
Goodfellas, The Godfather, Die Hard, Alien, Pulp Fiction. We also have some incredible recurring gags featured on the show celebrating some of the most obscure cinematic references possible.
My Dinner With Andre (be honest, who had heard of that before the show),
Beetlejuice (Google it - it'll blow your mind),
Ghost (Buster...) and so many more. For those reading this article, I'm going to assume you have a strong affinity, if not raging obsession, for pop-culture and should therefore appreciate what
Community tries to do. I, for one, love to look out for nods and homages to other pieces of fine work and it's a tell-tale sign of popular cinema nowadays as well (Tarantino, anyone...). It's a show that embraces what has come before, moulding it into something entertaining and something new - there are guides up and down the internet listing
Community's various nods to other mediums. It's satirical, it's genuine and it's deviously good.
