Community's Cast - Where Are They Now?

Yvette Nicole Brown played Shirley Bennett on the show, leaving during the final season. Community remains her career highlight, but she’s been incredibly busy since then, especially in the world of voice acting.

Brown plays Amanda Waller in most of the animated DC series’ including DC Super Hero Girls and various Lego spin offs. She also played Harper in the Minecraft story mode game, and has featured in Lego Star Wars, Scooby Doo, Family Guy, Sofia The First and Elena Of Avalor.

Brown recently showed she was a sweet as Shirley in real life too. After a well received guest judge appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, former winner Bob The Drag Queen criticised the show for booking Brown, mocking her allegedly unimpressive career.

Brown simply responded that she had always tried to work hard, and that she was grateful to RuPaul for giving her the opportunity. Brown’s fans though were less understanding, heavily criticising Bob The Drag Queen for her lack of pop culture knowledge; Community’s influence was particularly cited in Brown’s defence.

Like Ken Jeong, she also had a minor role in Avengers: Endgame, as a SHIELD agent distrustful of Tony Stark because of his beard.
