1. Is This The End for Peter Barlow?

Has ciggy-loving Peter Barlow puffed his last fag on Weatherfield? The troubled recovering alcoholic reaches breaking point this week when he discovers that Nick and former lover Leanne are planning to flee Weatherfield with his son, Simon. After viewers last week saw the bookie thump Nick after becoming paranoid that he was becoming more of a father figure to Simon than himself, Peter this week hits the bottle instead when Leanne and Nick refuse his request to spend more time with his son. He then drunkenly rows with girlfriend Carla (Alison King) and coldly tells her that she will never be as important to him as Simon, before dumping her and trying to rekindle his relationship with Leanne. After being knocked back, and getting into a row with dad Ken about his alcoholism, Peter then storms away from Weatherfield. Later, police inform the residents that a body matching Peter's description has been dredged out of the local canal. As Leanne joins frantic Ken in his search for his son, are they too late?
