Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9: 8 Times Larry David Was A Social Assassin
1. "I Have A Gerbil Up My A**"
Anyone who has had the temerity to fall ill at some point in their lives (so pretty much all of us) will be acutely aware of the ever heightening hurdles required to jump to secure a doctor's appointment. Sometimes, it feels as though you have to walk into the surgery with your head dripping blood under your arm to be taken seriously. And even then, it's with some degree of cynicism.
It's even worse when the problem concerns more sensitive areas, so you can understand the temptation to offer a facetious response to a jobsworth nurse insisting on the intimates before passing you over to the GP. For Larry, it was just as easy to tell the intermediary that he had a gerbil stuffed up his rear than reveal his actual reason for visiting the gastroenterologist.
Unfortunately, gossip spreads fast in the entertainment industry - especially when you've forged a bitter grudge with one of LA's most loquacious directors. Larry eventually has the opportunity to set the record straight, though perhaps he doesn't choose the most appropriate venue for full disclosure with regards to a tickle in his anus - a congratulatory speech during a bat mitzvah.
