Daredevil TV Show: 10 Things It Can Finally Get Right
10. The Costume
Afflecks red leather costume adhered to the comics in style, but it was laughably bad on screen. He looked like he was preparing for some bizarre S&M party, not about to fight crime when he suited up. The promotional images released by Marvel show a completely different costume to the one that viewers will recognise. The black costume, which covers everything except Matt Murdocks mouth, looks homemade and designed for functionality, not flamboyancy. This isnt a laughable costume, it looks like a vigilantes outfit which will enable him to hide away in the darkness when necessary, much like Batmans dark wardrobe allows him to do. It looks slightly ninja inspired, which perhaps gives a hint as to how the lawyer honed his acrobatic skill and fighting techniques. The 2003 costume featured stubby little horns, a gimmick which in the comic book panels helped to inspire fear in his enemies, but in the film it looked like a cheap Halloween costume; this cinematic tragedy looks set to be rectified by the upcoming TV series something which should make the show better for both fans of the comic and casual viewers.
