Daredevil TV Show: 10 Things It Can Finally Get Right

9. Street Villains

Daredevil has conquered more than his fair share of overblown, maniacal and convoluted evil plans in the comic books, but this is not where Daredevil is in his prime. When he is protecting the downtrodden and helpless from muggers, purse snatchers and local level street crime you see Daredevil for who he truly is. He is a lawyer by day, helping those in need, and by night he continues to live by these values but without the confines of the law. One of the problems with the film was that it concentrated on a couple of huge villains rather than having Ben Affleck fighting a menagerie of street criminals who were going to threaten ordinary citizens of Hell€™s Kitchen. Bullseye is a mildly amusing villain, but while Daredevil has got a number of big villains, he doesn€™t have to face up to them on a weekly basis like Spider-Man does. Every now and then this sort of plot works for Daredevil, but by protecting his community on a local level he is ensuring he lives up to his ideals. Marvel€™s man without fear is out of place fighting alongside the Avengers, so having his own TV show will allow him to thrive. In the climactic New York fight of the first Avengers film Daredevil would not have been fighting off the Chitauri, he would have been limiting looting and the riotous atmosphere on the streets. Marvel have a number of characters like this (Luke Cage and co) and this is the first time Marvel is really giving us one of these types of characters, and it should be exciting. This represents both a big risk for the company and it rectifies the massive villains of the movie.
