Doctor Who: 11 Funniest Moments From The Eleventh Doctor

6. The Day Of The Doctor (2)

2013 Specials. 23 November 2013. In The Day Of The Doctor the sonic screwdriver is the cause of much mirth. We've already mentioned Ten's size-envy when he sees his successor's larger sonic and the resulting compensation quip. The timing of Ten extending the tip of his own sonic is comedy gold. When Ten and Eleven focus their energy on the time fissure, they decide that reversing the polarity is the only way to deal with it. They aim their sonic devices accordingly, until Ten explains that by both attempting to reverse the polarity they're actually just cancelling each other out - "we're confusing the polarity!". Later, when War drops through the fissure, an alarmed Ten and Eleven both wave their sonics in his general direction, prompting him to ask why they're waving them around like weapons. "They're scientific instruments, not water pistols!". And when Queen Elizabeth's men come searching for the Doctor, both Ten and Eleven start waving their sonics about, again giving War cause to question their thinking: "They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do, assemble a cabinet at them?".

I'm just a guy who loves words. I discover vast tracts of uncharted enjoyment by chucking words together and coming up with stuff that talks about the things I enjoy and love most. I'm also a massive listaholic, so I'm probably talking about a list, looking at a list or banging away at another What Culture list as you read this. My tone's pretty relaxed and conversational, with a liberal sprinkling of sparkling wit, wilting sarcasm and occasional faux-condescension - with tongue almost always firmly planted in cheek.
