Doctor Who: All 17 Series 7 Episodes & Special Ranked

11. Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS - Stephen Thompson

What a premise for an episode: finally we thought we would get to see the inner workings of the TARDIS, and did we? Well... kind of: we did get a brief glimpse into the swimming pool, an Avatar style tree, a gorgeous library and eye of harmony and my favourite of all, the engine room in suspended explosion. It gets harder to place episodes when they are all of about the same quality, but the one thing that really brings down this episode though is the supporting cast. The Van Baalen brothers were bland to say the least. Quite how the three actors were cast is baffling; the awkwardness with which they deliver the lines is just astounding. It does have some good monsters, with the reveal that they are future versions of everyone on board a good payoff. The deus ex machina resolution does leave a lot to be desired, but doesn't feel like too much of a cheat.
