Doctor Who: All 17 Series 7 Episodes & Special Ranked
12. The Power Of Three - Chris Chibnall
The Power Of Three was an incredibly exciting prospect, and thankfully the first two thirds of this episode were brilliant, an enticing mystery, the return of U.N.I.T and the Doctor staying at home with the Ponds.
But then, the reveal of what the cubes were was, on the whole, pretty disappointing. Chibnall could have done literally anything with these cubes and he chose to have them deliver electrical pulses. Surely there could have been a greater revelation with more impact?
The Shakri were an interesting reveal but that came far too late into the episode. And on their subject, whatever happened to the other humans on board the ship? Who were the strange doctors with box mouths and what were they doing?
This episode also suffers from the sonic screwdriver resolution, as all the Doctor does to stop this big threat is to scan a screen. If there was ever an example of Doctor Who needing hour long episodes it was The Power Of Three.
