3. Last Words

"It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for..." -The Fourth Doctor Recently, fanboys and girls throughout the world cried out in joyful unison after a seven minute short hit the web. A regeneration that was speculated would never come was here and Paul McGann finally got what he deserved. Before drinking a potion that would induce a self-controlled regeneration, the Eighth Doctor utters his final words, "Physician, heal thyself." A biblical quote perfectly fitting for a man that knows he no longer has any use in his current form. Both mysterious and poetic, McGann's final words are a precursor for what is to come. Take care of one's self before you can take care of others. McGann knows what he must do. The good man he is now is not the same man that will go to war. The Doctor's last words don't have to be complicated or cryptic, as Tennant's heartfelt and simple, "I don't want to go," is one of the more powerful goodbyes. Knowing Moffat, it very well could be something we'll have to keep in mind and look out for in the future. Whatever it is, as long as it isn't, "Geronimo" I think most of us will be happy.
