2. Tenth Doctor, David Tennant
Best Episode: Blink This is an episode told from an alternate point of view with a deep claustrophobic, even frightening, sense to it. It helped stretch the boundaries of what Doctor Who could be as a series. The tension that came from following Sally Sparrow into the mystery and danger that gave life to one of the iconic monsters of the new series made it a fan favourite. Worst Episode: Love and Monsters By comparison, this is an episode told from an alternate point of view that just turns so hollow and genuinely unbelievable that it does not hold. It also had one of the worst monsters in the history of Doctor Who and one of the most ridiculous endings. Best Race: Ood It's great when an alien race opens up to larger possibilities, and the telepathic Ood do that so very well. That their appearance defies their genuinely benign nature also adds to their appeal. Worst Race: The Absorbaloff This was the creature from the worst episode this Doctor faced, both because it was painted essentially as an eating machine and because its process for doing so seemed completely ridiculous. Best Companion: Captain Jack Harkness When a character has a deep background and multiple motivations, so that he or she can do the right thing for the wrong reasons or the wrong thing for the right reason, the story steps up to become that much more interesting. Worst Companion: Martha Jones With so few companions, someone had to fall into this spot, and given that she was essentially painted in two dimensions for most of her tenure on the show, she fills this position.
