Best Episode: The Day Of The Doctor - The War Doctor steals the show. Worst Episode: The Name Of The Doctor - Still a cracking introduction and totally unexpected. From one grumpy old man to another, John Hurt's introduction in The Name Of The Doctor was one of the biggest cliffhangers in Doctor Who history and certainly raised the excitement levels for the 50th anniversary celebrations. He didn't disappoint either; taking center stage alongside the heavyweights of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, the War Doctor was still able to make himself the absolute highlight of Day Of The Doctor. Before Pete Capaldi's debut, it was John Hurt's Doctor that brought a very classic feel to Nu-Who. He wasn't one of the boyfriend Doctors we had been used to. He instantly called them out on their immaturity and proved to be the voice of reason, deducing that they were still running from the horrors of the Time War. He was also the Doctor that went head to head with the Daleks like no other. He was a warrior, a general and made the hard choices that his other incarnations may have run away from. In just on episode, the War Doctor cemented his place in Doctor Who history. There is a certain appeal in seeing more of him in the future but there is also reason in not bringing him back. His story is solely linked to the Time War and with the 50th anniversary done, that story line - with the exception of bringing back Gallifrey - is now over.
