Doctor Who Season 8: 10 Things We Already Know

2. Twelve's Resemblance To Other Characters Will Be Explained

Peter Capaldi may be the new Doctor, but this isn€™t his first time in the Doctor Who universe. Capaldi previously starred in the Tenth Doctor episode €œThe Fires of Pompeii€ as Caecilius, and later appeared on Torchwood as civil servant John Frobisher. This isn€™t the first time one of the Doctor actors appeared on the show before playing the famed Time Lord. Before becoming the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker appeared in €œArc of Infinity€ as Commander Maxil. Other notable Doctor Who alumni also appeared as minor characters before becoming main characters, like Karen Gillan who also appeared in €œThe Fires of Pompeii€ as a soothsayer. The last time The Doctor looked like someone we€™d seen before, it went unnoticed. However, this time around, the visual similarities won€™t be attributed to coincidence. Showrunner Steven Moffat revealed that there eventually will be an explanation for why Twelve bears resemblance two other characters from the Doctor Who universe. Attributing the idea to his predecessor Russell T. Davies, Moffat hinted that the reason for the visual similarities may have something to do with The Doctor having some control with how his new face looks post-regeneration. Interesting thought, although if he some control over his appearance, wouldn€™t he have become a ginger by now?
