Doctor Who: 10 Awesome Moments From Series 6's US Two-Parter

1. The Mystery Girl's Regeneration

At the end of The Impossible Astronaut, said astronaut was revealed to be a scared little girl, not the monster Amy had anticipated. Her name wasn't revealed, nor was it entirely clear why the Silence would use a child to take down the Doctor. Two things, however, were quite obvious - that this was no ordinary little girl (River observed that she must have been incredibly strong in order to tear herself free of the spacesuit's restraints) and that she was Amy's daughter (the pictures of Amy with a baby that were in the girl's room at Greystark Hall made this blatantly clear). But how did Amy's daughter fall into the hands of the Silence? An even bigger question presented itself at the end of Day of the Moon. How did Amy's daughter have the ability to regenerate? She managed to escape the Silence for a while but could not survive on her own, hence her deteriorating health and subsequent regeneration. This, of course, further fuelled the wild rumour that had reared its head in The Impossible Astronaut that Amy and the Doctor had had an affair. After all, why else could Amy's daughter regenerate if she were not part Time Lord? It was a scene that kept the Whoniverse abuzz for months and had everyone eagerly anticipating the rest of Series 6, which is precisely what a good premiere story should do.
