5. Less Libido
Now, I am not Waris Hussein, or any of his comrades who believe
sexuality needs to disappear from the world of Doctor Who. This element of Doctor Who was brought to the foreground of our attention back in April when a handful of people from Doctor Who's early days declared the programme "needn't have" this "element...of sexuality". Companion and Doctor flirting is fun. I ship as much as the next guy. Jo, Sarah Jane, Rose, River...the Doctor deserves love in his life. But David Tennant's Doctor had to go around kissing anything that breathedalright he is not exactly Jack Harkness, but honestly his tongue needed a bit of a rest. I thought watching the beginning of the Eleventh Doctor's tenure that, that had indeed died with the Tenth Doctor, but, I was proved wrong as not only his relationship with River escalated, and other romance entered the picture. By other romance I am referring mostly to this:
There was little justification to offer for why the Doctor chose to kiss Jenny here in Crimson Horror and ultimately it did not serve the plot overall, nor was it funny or sweet, simply awkward. Awkward sums up the way the sexual tension between the Doctor and Clara has thus far been handled, sorry Whouffles! While I certainly would not object Peter Capaldi's Doctor finding his own special someone, I also would not mind seeing him give his bedroom eyes a rest for a lifetime.
