Doctor Who: 10 Facts About Big Finish You Didn't Know

7. The Time War Is Explored

Since Doctor Who's return in 2005, the fandom has wondered if we would ever get to see the Time War. Apart from a few sneak peaks, most notably in The Day of the Doctor, it seemed like this would never be a possibility. At least on screen. However, Big Finish came along and offered fans the opportunity to delve deeper into this mysterious era of the show.

This allowed us more adventures featuring John Hurt's War Doctor before he tragically passed away. RIP. It was certainly a nice treat to see the damaged characterisation of this battered incarnation expanded upon, as well as eventually witnessing how the Eighth Doctor tackled this destructive battlefield.

Further series have been developed such as Gallifrey: Time War and Susan's War in order to give further depth to this hellish landscape, with Big Finish really going that extra mile to deliver an imaginative rendition of the chaotic war between the Time Lords and the Daleks.
