10 Great Doctor Who Moments From The Brain Of Morbius
6. The Part One Cliffhanger
One of things classic Doctor Who did bigger and better than NuWho is the cliffhanger. Often, stories were broken down into several parts and so cliffhangers were a must in order to keep viewers interested from week to week. Usually cliffhangers were resolved quickly when the next episode starts as they're used merely to maximise on shock value. Following this formula, The Brain of Morbius is no different and part one ends on an all time classic image which would have fans revelling in its glory to this day. Thinking the Doctor has been transferred to the bed in Solon's lab, Sarah Jane gingerly pulls aside the curtain only to see the headless body which would soon house the brain of Morbius. As the creature begins to stir, the closing sting is heard. The moment really needs to be seen in context to be truly appreciated. What is true, however, is that it's nigh on impossible to not go right into part two after the tease of Sarah Jane in imminent danger.
