5. The Girl in the Fireplace (Story 171, 2006)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E8ZZPRgPso The first of the Tenth Doctor Moffat episodes, and you know it would be on here. You know that the other ones will be, too, and rightly so. This story, along with the others, proved that Moffats success with the Ninth Doctor wasnt just a fluke, and that he was someone who could pen really amazing stories with great emotional cores and plenty of fascinating scenes. The story of a very intelligent woman, some clockwork robots and a mysterious spaceship in the far future shouldnt work. That it does, and that it worked so amazingly well, is a great testament to everyone involved, and gives us a good idea why Moffat went on to become the producer for the series.
