Doctor Who: 10 Historical Figures The Doctor Should Totally Meet

8. Henry VIII (Or A Wife)

HVIII So we've heard mentions of King Henry VIII in Doctor Who before €“ Amy left her phone charger in his room, and allegedly married him. But wouldn't it be nice to see the king in the flesh, meeting the Doctor? Although, maybe what would be even better is for the Doctor to meet a wife of Henry, he had six of them after all. There's the misunderstood Catherine of Aragon; the lover who turned sour Anne Boleyn; the tragic favourite Jane Seymour; the unloved Anne of Cleves; the promiscuous Catherine Howard and the survivor Catherine Parr. My choice would probably be Anne of Cleves because she doesn't die as a result of Henry, and it would make for a much more pleasant episode. I could imagine Anne lying alone in Hever Castle, admittedly granted to her by Henry, and then there's a funny noise and a blue police box appears. She's relieved from her loneliness and boredom by a mysterious stranger who takes her to a far away planet where they have made a Tudor based theme park ridiculing her ex-husband. OK, that's a bit strong. But then there would be some sort of alien incursion and she helps save the day, I don't know how, maybe by fainting €“ that probably happened a lot to Tudor women. Henry would have to have a cameo to make people recognise who Anne is, but otherwise I'm sure it'd be a great episode.
