8. Sam Neill
For Sam Neill, I picture a more cynical, grumpy and more secretive Doctor than most other incarnations. Sam Neill is an actor who in many ways, is a perfect fit to play The Doctor. You look at the material he has done over the years and can't help thinking how perfect he would be to take on the role. He has done comedic and heroic roles as proved in Jurassic Park when playing the character Dr. Alan Grant, as well as portraying cold, villainous characters such as in the film Event Horizon. Not only would Sam Neill make a great Doctor, I think also he would also be the incarnation's most mysterious. I say that because he gives characters who aren't very keen to bond with people, and tend to hide themselves from the world and its qualities. In many ways, that's a perfect description of The Doctor. I reckon you could give Neill an incarnation of The Doctor with a lot of mystery to his character and you have yourself a fantastic new take on an already iconic character.
