10 HUGE Revelations About Disney Doctor Who In Russell T Davies' New Memoir
8. The War Between Was Meant To Be An Annual Show
When fans first heard about Doctor Who’s latest spin-off, many were asking why the heck the title had to be so damn long.
Now it makes a bit more sense. Because as many suspected, The War Between the Land and the Sea wasn't meant to be a one-off, but rather the first series of a returning show.
Also as many suspected, it was originally meant to air in late 2024, in-between Seasons 1 and 2.
According to RTD, a second run of episodes titled The War Between the Earth and the Moon was already "fairly well developed."
This would've revolved around the UNIT Moonbase, with an impeached American president visiting and claiming the place as his own, nuclear weapons and all. In addition, a "weird, creepy, wailing, unearthly essence" was stirring in a nearby crater.
Kate Stewart was once again going to be central to the action. And, with any luck, there’d have been absolutely no reference to the Moon being an egg.
Further series would've followed annually, with other suggestions including The War Between the Men and the Women, and The War Between the Clever and the Not, which RTD describes as "the story of our society now."
Instead, all we ended up with was The War Between the BBC and Disney.
