Doctor Who: 10 Most Disappointing Concluding Episodes

10. The Ultimate Foe

This episode fits on in two ways, first because episode two is awful compared to the first and secondly because it's an awful conclusion to the season long serial which was Trial of a Time Lord. While Trial was fairly bad overall, it was epic in scope and had brilliant moments, such as the opening model shot of the first episode and the final moments of Mindwarp. It was just (very much a just, however) good enough to keep you watching. However, The Ultimate Foe is the complete mess that the season kept threatening to become. The writer of episode one was dying as he wrote it and only just managed to finish it. As a result, the producer had to get in two writers (who were the worst writers of the 80s anyway) to piece together the final episode by reading through the notebook of a dying man. Funnily enough, it was awful.
