Doctor Who: 10 Most Romantic Moments

1. Martha Leaves

MarthaAfter42 I'll go on the record right now and say that this is - bar none- my favorite scene in the entire history of the show. Not least because it's the only leaving scene in the entire run of the new series that's actually empowering and positive for the companion leaving. (well... there's an argument to be made for Amy...) I watch this scene probably five or six times a month. And while I admit that that is probably unhealthy, there's a positive message to be taken from it. And it's found in five words in the middle of the speech. "I mean, he liked her..." What Martha is saying here - especially in those five words - can be summed up in this- "I love you. And I know that you don't love me. And that's OK." It's a direct, heartfelt discussion between two friends that is made up of nothing but total honesty and kindness. It's re-engaging with the world in the most positive of ways, and it's a rare acknowledgement in this day and age that just because someone you love does not love you back that does not in fact make them the anti-christ. Go and watch it now. And then comment below about all of your favorite romantic scenes that I missed.
