Doctor Who: 10 Things Russell T. Davies NEEDS To Do

3. Christopher Eccleston

To be very honest, when the news broke that Davies was returning, that seemed to confirm to this writer that Christopher Eccleston would not soon be returning to Doctor Who, on-screen at least. He has recently begun appearing in Big Finish audio dramas, which seemed to at least signify a softening of attitudes between the actor and the BBC.

However, as is already fairly well known, Eccleston left Doctor Who original on a very sour note. He has since gone on the record to say that he felt his relationship with Davies had irrevocably broken down, which would not suggest much hope in him appearing in any cameo capacity going forward.

However, and this is assuming that this has not already been done, Davies returning to the show is an opportunity to set things right with the actor. The 60th anniversary is approaching. Eccleston famously didn't appear in the 50th, but it is possible now that enough time may have passed that, if offered an olive branch, he could be convinced to return. There are many other logistical issues to consider, but having Eccleston return to the show would be a true coup for Davies as showrunner.
