Doctor Who: 10 Things To Expect From Chibnall's First Series

9. But A Sense Of Fun And Adventure Too

There was certainly a great deal of humour in series nine, but there has also been a lot of doom and gloom in Moffat's era. Expect Chibnall's tenure to bring a sense of fun to the proceedings that hasn't always been prevalent as of late. Dinosaurs on A Spaceship is a great example of what he can do; sure it is silly but it is also a joyous ride - a favourite of my kids - and who didn't love the Doctor riding Tricey? His first contribution, series three's 42 is another example of a fast paced adrenaline adventure from beginning to end. It is clear to see that he is capable of bringing the fun elsewhere too. Take Torchwood season two opener Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang which introduced Spike from Buffy as Captain John Hart, a rival time rogue time agent to Captain Jack that set the second year up to be more fun and action packed than its first. It is a theme Chibnall carried through that entire year. Fun and adventure are sure to be the motto of Chibnall's first series. Though given his other writing credentials, expect some gripping drama too...
