Doctor Who: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Pantheon Of The Gods

5. The Unmade Final Battle With The Trickster

The Trickster was last seen in Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, but that wasn't supposed to be the end.

One final battle with Sarah Jane Smith and the Bannerman Road gang was planned for Series 5, but tragically it was not to be, due to the untimely death of Elisabeth Sladen.

Titled The Battle of Bannerman Road, the story would've served as the grand finale to Series 5. It would've revealed that Sky Smith – an alien bioweapon in the body of a child, who Sarah took in and raised as her own daughter – was actually the host for the Trickster's essence, allowing him to take over the world from the attic at Bannerman Road.

Concept art from this story, showing Sky as a Trickster-like monster, is truly, truly horrifying.

It was set up as an epic finale for the entire Sarah Jane Adventures, with various returning characters including Jo Jones, Luke Smith, and the mysterious Shopkeeper.

In 2020, the webcast Farewell, Sarah Jane implied that these events still took place, referring to Sky's ability to manifest as a human to attend Sarah's memorial service. The Trickster also attended... but was defeated once again!
