Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Knew About Peter Capaldi
5. He Was In A Miniseries With Tom Baker
Released in 1991, Selling Hitler is based on a real story in which a German conman duped Stern magazine into thinking he had the actual diaries of Adolf Hitler. Peter Capaldi plays Thomas Walde, the person in charge of historical research at the magazine. Fourth Doctor Tom Baker is an executive who is very keen to get these alleged diaries and the whole process goes downhill from there. Remember, teenage Capaldi already once had an autograph from Baker, so this must have been quite the surreal moment, acting alongside a former TARDIS occupant himself. In other past-Doctor co-starring roles, Capaldi was in the farcical TV movie Hotel! with Eighth Doctor Paul McGann and Ms. Delphox herself, Keeley Hawes. Capaldi plays the hotel manager who has a photo in his office of himself with a bunch of goats (they're his "kids," you see) and the whole thing is silly and pun-filled, yet still great in an Airplane! sort of way.
