Doctor Who: 10 Worst Episodes Of The Decade

7. Night Terrors (2011)

Doctor Who The Tsuranga Conundrum the Pting

Doctor Who is no stranger to suspense and monsters, and as such, ‘Night Terrors’ should have made for an enjoyable adventure.

Whilst this episode certainly has its frightening moments, it also feels like a missed opportunity. The first half contains very little plot progression beyond setting up the premise, which in turn makes the episode rather wearisome.

The second half, on the other hand, doesn’t do enough to recover the audience’s interest. The dolls that pursue the Doctor and his companions are somewhat creepy, but they start to lose their fear factor simply because they are overused. Such creatures would have been far more effective if they had been used sparingly.

All things considered, ‘Night Terrors’ is certainly not a bad episode, it's just a wasted opportunity that could have been great if only the script had been more focused.
