Doctor Who: 11 Beloved Characters Who Were Only In One Episode
9. Chantho
Oh, Chantho. We hardly knew ye. Chan, Chantho, tho made quite the impression (Captain Jack Harkness, we're looking at you!) when she was introduced as Professor Yana's ever faithful assistant in Series 3's Utopia. As the last of her kind, it didn't take long for fans to take her to their Whovian heart(s) but things went from bad to worse for this adorable Malmooth when the Professor (who she also happened to be in love with - just 'cause!) turned out to be the malevolent Master in a humble human disguise. Chantho's attempt to shoot him on sight (like he later says, it's always the women!) would be the last thing she ever did, however, when he responded by fatally wounding her with a live electric cable. Ouch. The actress who played her, Chipo Chung, would return to the Whoniverse exactly a year later as the villainous Fortune Teller in Series 4's Turn Left, but it's much more heartwarming to remember her as Chantho. Chan, gone too soon, tho. Why are the good ones always the first to go?
