8. Jenny
Georgia Moffett certainly got tongues wagging when she was introduced as Jenny, the Doctor's daughter, back in Series 4 (wait... does someone who was artificially created in a progenation machine using a sample of his DNA even count as his daughter? Let's just say they do!) but the party was over before it had truly begun when she was shot dead at the end of the same episode. Dammit, Jenny! It was a noble sacrifice, at least, since she took a bullet that had been intended for the Doctor, but it certainly pissed off a lot of viewers who were already busy imagining all the fun and jollity the show would play host to after Jenny stepped - nay, somersaulted - aboard the TARDIS to join her father on a host of extra terrestrial escapades. Alas, it was a forlorn fantasy. Or was it? Unbeknownst to the titular Time Lord, Jenny actually came back to life at the end of the story and proceeded to commandeer her own space shuttle to embark on her own adventures. She's definitely her father's daughter in that regard, and many fans assumed that the last minute development was laying the groundwork for her future return. 7 years later (hold on, has it really been that long!?) and she is nowhere to be seen, although her prolonged disappearance hasn't stopped theorists speculating that she has secretly regenerated into a certain Victorian maid who divides her time between saving the world and bonking Madama Vastra. Well, stranger things have happened...
