Doctor Who: 11 Beloved Characters Who Were Only In One Episode
5. Astrid Peth
Here's one that's been included especially for you. It's not every day that you request a Doctor Who guest role and get handed one on a plate (you can keep sending angry letters to Steven Moffat, but it just ain't gonna happen!) but such was the coveted case for Kylie Minogue back in 2007 when she landed a leading role in NuWho's third annual festive escapade, Voyage of the Damned. She should be so lucky (lucky, lucky, lucky...)! And, narratively speaking, Astrid Peth was here to stay. Well, for about 20 minutes, at least. Their was a vacancy in the TARDIS following Martha's impromptu departure at the end of the last episode and this plucky and ambitious waitress from the planet Sto seemingly fitted the bill. The Doctor even invited her to join him on his extra terrestrial escapades - an offer she just couldn't refuse - but that was all fans needed to conclude that she was about to meet a ratehr sticky end. And that she did, but at least she went out in flames of glory. Quite literally, too, as she plummeted to her untimely death after using a forklift truck to overthrow the scheming Max Capricorn and his plan to overthrow his employees by blowing up the Titanic and blaming them for the mass murder of the human race. It (probably) made sense at the time.
